3Day 3: Safety and Rope Access

  • Safety precautions when working on and with metal roofing
  • Proper handling and storage of standing seam roofing materials
  • Basics of rope access safety

4Day 4: Penetrations and Chimney Details

  • Penetration Layout

Week 2: Advanced Applications & Final Project

  • Review of installation techniques for standing seam roofing
  • Troubleshooting common problems with standing seam roofing

  • Skylight types and their application
  • Types of skylight flashing
  • Layout

7Day 2: Low Slope Detailing and Gutters

  • Introduction to low slope detailing
  • Design of low slope flashings and details
  • Discussion on directing the flow of water
  • Intro to soldering
  • Types of diverters
  • Intro to gutters

  • Installation of eves trough
  • Built in trough
  • "Yankee" style on the roof trough

8Day 3: Radius Theory and Applications

  • Introduction to radius theory
  • Radius layout
  • Radius valley design
Practical Exercises:
  • Shrinking and stretching
  • Pleated valley fabrication
  • Radius Fascia and drip
  • Roofing a barrel or Eyebrow dormer
Final Review:
  • Discussion on final inspection and quality control

9-10Days 4-5: Final Project

The culmination of your training is a comprehensive final project where you'll apply all the skills you've learned throughout the course.

  • Students work in teams to design and install a standing seam roofing system on a small shed or other structure
  • Presentation of final projects to the class
